Planning Commission

The Planning Commission was adopted by the Board of Supervisors of the Township of Connoquenessing 4-13-1967 by Ord. No. 12; amended in its entirety 9-9-1997 by Ord. No. 59 (Ch. 1, Par 1, of the 1997 Code of Ordinances. The Commission is comprised of five members, appointed by the Board of Supervisors, to a 4-year term. Planning Commissions in Pennsylvania are tasked with specific responsibilities outlined in the Municipalities Planning Code Act of 1968, P.L.805, No.247, but their primary role within the municipality is to serve as advisors to the governing body. The Commission provides recommendations on a wide variety of planning and land development related proposals, including but not limited to ordinance amendments, plans and studies, and land development, in accordance with the Butler County Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO), in addition to playing an important role in the development of a Comprehensive Plan. It is important for the Planning Commissioners to recognize this advisory role has limitations and that ultimately, final decisions on any proposal are made by the governing body. Regardless of what the Planning Commission may recommend, the governing body has the authority to make changes to proposals or to act contrary to the recommendation provided.

Plan Submission

All pre-application review requests and formal plan submissions to be considered by the Commission  must be received by 4:00 PM EST two weeks before the scheduled meeting date, unless noted otherwise. Meetings, Minutes & Agendas

The Planning Commission meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:00 PM. Meetings are conducted at the Township Municipal Building, located at 102 Township Dr., Renfrew, PA 16053. Minutes and agendas can be located here.

Comprehensive Plan

The Comprehensive Plan was adopted by the Board of Supervisors at the August 7, 2024 monthly meeting. A copy of the Comprehensive Plan (Volume I & II) can be viewed at the township building during regular business hours, or 24/7 online.
