Board of Supervisors
The Board of Supervisors is the general governing body for Connoquenessing Township. The Township is considered a second class township, following the rules and regulations as outlined under the Second Class Township Code of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Board is comprised of three members who are elected to staggered 6-year terms, with elections held every two years. The Supervisors are responsible for the overall governance of the township, in a manner that provides for the adequate health, safety, and welfare of all residents in the community.
Meetings
The Board of Supervisors’ regular monthly public meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month, at 6:00 PM. Meetings are conducted at the Township Municipal Building, located at 102 Township Dr., Renfrew, PA 16053. In accordance with the Pennsylvania Sunshine Act, 65 Pa.C.S. §§ 709 (c.1), agendas are published at least 24 hours before the meeting, and are posted online and at the Township Building. Additionally, in accordance with the Pennsylvania Sunshine Act, 65 Pa.C.S. §§ 706, minutes shall be kept of all open meetings of agencies. The meeting minutes record the actions taken by the Board, as required by statute, and are not be a verbatim transcript of everything that is said. Once minutes are approved by the Board of Supervisors at the regular monthly public meeting, they will be available online.
Public Participation
All meetings are open to the public. Residents and tax payers are welcome to comment on agenda and non-agenda items. Comments on agenda items are accepted during the ‘Comment Period’ portion of the agenda. Comments on non-agenda items are only accepted during the ‘Request to be Heard’ portion of the agenda. If you would like to make a comment on a non-agenda item, please notify the Township Secretary by 4:00 PM on the Monday before the meeting day, via email or telephone.

Section 607 of the Second Class Township Code charges the board of supervisors with the general governance of the township and gives the board both legislative and executive powers. The Township Supervisor’s Handbook issued by the Department of Community and Economic Development provides guidance for the Board. Connoquenessing Township Supervisors are not employees; They do not clock in at 8:00 AM and clock out at 4:00 PM. Supervisors’ salaries for serving their community are set by the Second Class Township Code. Based upon the township’s population, the current pay cap for supervisors is $1,875.00 per year. If a resident has a concern that needs to be addressed by the Township, they are encouraged to contact the Township Secretary at the Township Municipal Building, who may be able to address the manner promptly and/or schedule an appropriate time for the concerns to be presented to the Board.
